The Alvis Stalwart Mk2 is a British amphibious military truck built by Alvis and used from 1966 to 1993. Designed for rugged terrains and water crossings, it features a 6x6 all-wheel-drive system, a watertight hull, and twin water jets for propulsion in water, reaching speeds of up to 6 knots. Powered by a 6.5L Rolls-Royce B81 petrol engine producing 220 hp, it could carry up to 5 tons of cargo and had a top road speed of 65 km/h. The central driver’s cab had two additional seats, with access only through roof hatches. A total of 956 Mk 2 FV622, FV623 and FV624 Stalwarts were produced, of which the British Army purchased 932, with 24 sold to other countries
Used primarily for battlefield resupply, its complex transmission system required frequent maintenance. The Alvis Stalwart Mk2 was phased out by 1990s. Today, it remains a historically significant military vehicle and is preserved in museums and private collections.
This photo collection is incredibly rare, potentially featuring prototypes, early versions, or variants and devolvement staff. Many images feature British Army, RAF, and other military vehicles around the UK. Significant imperfections have been repaired if needed and contrast has been enhanced to closely resemble its original state.
