Royal-Arsenal-History (RAH) is a treasure trove of historical documents, photographs, and artefacts that deserve to be preserved in the best possible quality. Unfortunately, the current scanners are now 20 years old and slow and noisy, and their declining condition results in random lines and that do not do justice to the precious materials RAH is trying to digitise.

Urgent Need: Over 30,000 Negatives Left to Scan
Over 30,000 negatives are waiting to be scanned, each containing invaluable moments of history. To ensure RAH can continue to provide high-quality digital reproductions of these valuable items,  The Epson v850 is renowned for its exceptional scanning capabilities, offering high resolution and colour accuracy that will allow us to preserve our archives with the fidelity they deserve.

Why the Epson v850 scanner?
  • High Resolution: The v850 delivers outstanding detail and clarity, crucial for capturing the fine details of historical documents and photographs.
  • Advanced Technology: With dual lenses and superior scanning speed, the v850 significantly reduces the time and effort required for high-quality scans.
  • Reliability: Epson's reputation for durability means this scanner will be a valuable asset for years to come, ensuring ongoing RAH preservation efforts.

Your donation will directly contribute to the purchase of a new Epson v850 scanner, enhancing RAH's ability to preserve and share our rich history. Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to achieving this goal.

The negative envelopes in this photo are just a very small selection from a filing cabinet full.  One large mixed envelope can take 3 weeks solid to scan with these two old scanners. Scanned files take up a huge amount of space quickly and with increasing storage for high quality images, RAH needs your help.
