Duke Riley’s outdoor work see over 1500 LED-lit pigeons soar into the skies above the River Thames in a glorious spectacle of unprecedented scale and beauty.
In its first international performance since its premiere at New York City’s Brooklyn Navy Yard in 2016, Riley’s world-class airborne installation had been re-imagined for London’s historical military location of Thamesmead, paying beautiful homage to some of the First World War’s unsung heroes who played crucial roles delivering messages between distant personnel.

Royal Arsenal East - Firing Range Butts
June 2017

Rare colour video of Royal Arsenal firing range proof butts and related material. Also includes Shoeburyness.
Date late 1940's early 1950's:

One of the main reasons I started Royal-Arsenal-History.com is because of this proof butt site. As a kids we used to camp here with the metropolitan police scheme called Thamesmead Adventure during the school summer holidays. derelict and covered with sand and overgrown remains of what once was.  Since then I started to look for answers.  I hit the jackpot.  This video has satisfied my curiosity to see what the area was like in colour 25 years later.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/ThamesmeadAdventure/
